On May 31, the situation in Zaporizhzhia region was extremely tense – more than 500 shellings from Russian troops were recorded. This was reported by the head of the regional military administration Ivan Fedorov: “The last day for Zaporizhzhia region was quite difficult. Let’s start with the fact that the Russians shelled the territory of Zaporizhzhia region more than 500 times. Most of them were frontline settlements. 17 settlements. But the Russians also terrorized the regional center – the city of Zaporizhzhia. Over the course of 24 hours, we received 32 reports of the destruction of houses and structures. And all this in just one day.”
The most intense attacks, he said, lasted at night: the air raid alert sounded for 12 hours. At around 4:00 a.m. on June 1, shelling by Shahed suicide drones and missiles began.
